Affinity Credit Union and Saskatoon Co-op Commit $75,000 to Crocus Co-operative Community Kitchen.

Affinity Credit Union and Saskatoon Co-op have partnered to commit a total of $75,000 to Crocus Co-operative’s Community Kitchen. The announcement was made during a joint ceremony at the Crocus facility, coinciding with Co-op Week, underscoring the shared co-operative values of all three organizations.

The commitment, valued at $25,000 annually over three years, provides financial and in-kind support for Crocus Co-op’s meal program and membership.

"The Community Kitchen is the heart of Crocus Co-op, providing a safe, consistent space where our members can find companionship, participate in work skills training, and access nutritious, affordable meals," said Corinne Anthony, Executive Director of Crocus Co-operative. "This partnership with Affinity Credit Union and Saskatoon Co-op is a profound commitment to the health and well-being of our members and secures the future of this program for years to come. It’s a true example of co-operation in action."

This collaborative sponsorship solidifies the co-operative network’s investment in community resilience and mental health support in Saskatchewan.

“This partnership is a powerful reflection of what it means to be a co-operative,” said Nilesh Kavia, CEO of Affinity Credit Union. “We believe in the power of co-operation to build stronger, more inclusive communities — and this partnership with Saskatoon Co-op and Crocus Co-op is a meaningful example of just that. As we mark Co-op Week and the International Year of Co-operatives, we’re proud to live our values by supporting a place that nourishes not just bodies, but hearts and minds. Together, we’re demonstrating how co-operatives can amplify their impact when they work in unity, especially in areas like food security and community wellness that matter deeply to all.”

“As a local food retailer, it is a privilege to provide the essential supplies that fuel this incredible community kitchen,” said Gerald Hiebert, CEO of Saskatoon Co-op. “This ensures the Crocus team can maintain their high standards while offering a meal service and gathering place that engages their members and strengthens our community. Our co-operative principles guide us to invest in organizations that make a real difference, and Crocus Co-op is certainly one of them.”
