New Caring Company Designation
Saskatoon Co-op Named Caring Company by Imagine Canada!
February 6, 2024

Saskatoon Co-op recently received word that it is designated as a Caring Company through Imagine Canada. Founded in 1988, the Caring Company Certification program awards an Imagine Canada Trustmark to companies that give back at least 1% of pre-tax profits to the communities where their employees live and work. Community investment is recognized across four categories: cash donations, paid volunteerism, in-kind contributions, and management costs.

Saskatoon Co-op easily qualified for the designation through its many community investment projects, especially when factoring in the in-kind food donations our stores give to various Food Banks across all our communities. Our Co-op joins with many other big-name retailers, including Canadian Tire, Loblaw, CIBC, Saskatchewan Blue Cross, Access Communications and many others!

Did you know? Canadian employees prefer working for Caring Companies. A 2019 study showed that 86% of employees who are convinced their company is highly committed to community said they are ‘extremely or very likely’ to stay in their job for the next two years.

Why is this important? In short, your Co-op cares. Contributing locally is foundational to our “Community” value, which is “We strengthen and care for people and our environments.” We should feel proud of the fact that we are able to give back where we can to those initiatives and organizations that matter to our membership!

Watch for more announcements through Imagine Canada, and on all our social media channels, starting February 6th. Saskatoon Co-op will also be featured in their newsletter in March.
